Want an Apple?

~Want an Apple?~

The sun shone down and struck with its rays, glinting off the brass and the gold
His armband glistened, and though tarnished for days, it looked golden and warm yet so cold.  
The warrior stood, he was a monstrous beast, and gave all who could see him a fright
And it was clear why he would, he looked evil at least, and only mountains matched his great height.

He had long pointed horns twisted up on his head and he wore a large leather belt
He was grasping the hilt of a huge iron sword, and with it only death could be dealt.
He had muscles to spare, he was sleek with dark fur, and his face was like that of a bull
His strength was unfair, and in but a swift blur, his enemies fell and their eyes turned dull.

After the battle he sheathed his grand blade, and walked from the scene of the fight
But not far in the distance, catching his eye, he happened upon a peculiar sight.
A young girl stood, half the size of his sword, and glanced at the beast with much wonder
Even from far he could see her sweet face, and her tender grey eyes filled with thunder.

Curiously he approached the girl, and one would think that she would be scared
But she did not blink, and she did not flinch, she just looked up and stared.
His bulky brown boots with a wide fur trim were all that she could see
Because although her brave spirit stood much taller, she only came up to his knee.

For a while neither one dared to move, and the seconds slowly ticked by
But then to the great surprise of the beast, the child grinned wide and said “Hi.”
Out from her sleeve she retrieved a small item; it was shiny, smooth and bright red
She stretched out her arm to offer it to him; “Want an apple?” she cheerfully said.
